Collection of Indian Sweets at Bikanervala

I can’t imagine having tea in the morning without sweets and namkeen. One sweet item has to be there complemented with biscuits and namkeen. It is only after having these soon after I brush my teeth that the morning chores start. I must say these are my energy boosters to complete morning household chores fast! There are many who find my morning food routine weird as majority of the people have only tea without any accompaniment. You will always find Indian sweets varieties and namkeen at my home. If at one time you find ghee based Indian sweets, the other time you will find khoa sweets, followed by Bengali sweets, kaju sweets, and the list goes on. I cannot just have one type of Indian sweets for days together. The Indian sweets I like best are gulab jamun, kaju gujia, besan laddoo, bundi laddoo, gajar halwa, moong daal barfi, rasgulla, malai chap, cham cham, pinni special, anguri petha, shrikhand, kalakan, pakeja, and anjir barfi. I need not search all these Indian sweets at different outlets as I get them all at Bikanervala. At this sweets shop, you will find countless other varieties of sweets including namkeen. I don’t like sweets of any other brand.

The other day while I was reading about the history of gulab jamun on web, I was surprised to find that it originated from an Arabic dessert called Luqmat Al-Qadi which means ‘the judge's bite’. This sweets food item became popular in India during the Mughal empire.
